Actually, I can imagine some soldier dying for his/her homeland on foreign soil (i.e., Anti-hitler coalition soldiers during WW2), but this is not the case when your country is an aggressor. In that case you're dying not for protection of your homeland, but for ill-minded wish of your country's authorities.
